JDHURF, can you define in your own words what is a legitimate form of protest? If you already did in the thread I must have missed it.

There are no absolutes here. As I have already said, I believe that the answer depends upon the ethical variables involved in any given specific instance. It's a matter of what is most effective and what is most necessary.

Well, the consequences of any action are what determines it's ethical value. Sometimes breaking the law is necessary to do what it is just, for example.

I agree. Consequences are the most important factor, but I believe that various other factors, such as intention and so on, figure into the calculus as well.
