Also, in the case of fountain drinks, the wholesale price is basically nil. The cost of the plastic cup is waaay higher than the pop itself. They could absorb a penny an ounce on fountain drinks and still have a 300% margin on it.

they could absorb the tax, but they will still fight it to the bitter end.

Remind me why the government is so infatuated with what I can and cannot eat, again. Call me old fashion, but it seems like it should stick to what it's supposed to do.
