I was raised by role reversal parents. My Papa had quad bypass surgery when I was about 13 and was forced to retire. Mom was a Post Master who worked 70+ hour weeks and did a lot of traveling. Papa had always been the "House Wife" anyways just because that's the kind of man he was. Thank Heavens she found such a wonderful person to love and care for us and to try to repair the damage inflicted on us by that Piece of Shit, so called "Father" of mine.

I remember the first argument they ever had. I went bat shit, nucking futs. I hid behind a couch and lost it. I always hid during fights because they usually ended with my "real father" beating my mom almost to death, literally. If it got too close to her dying, I would manage to hurt myself in order to distract him. This time, however, I wasn't scared for my mom. Papa wasn't the type. I was scared shitless that they would get divorced and I would be taken away from him and never see him again. After all, he wasn't my "Real Father". He was just the man who loved and adored me as his own and I loved and adored him in return. Anyhow, my brother found me, went upstairs and ripped them a new one and they never again allowed a disagreement to be raised to that level again.

Mom would come home from work, lie down on the couch and he would serve her a glass of wine and then her dinner on a cutting board covered with a dish towel. Mom would mention wanting to take a bath and he would have it run to just the right temperature before she could even decide if she really wanted it. In the mornings, he would get her coffee while she got ready for work. If it got cold before she had drank it, he would nuke it for her then have another cup ready as soon as she finished it. When he died he had all the arrangements preplanned so Mom didn't have to deal with jack shit.

I can't imagine my life without either one of them and I'm still pissed about losing him when I was 22 and Mom at 34. My kids got royally screwed by not having a grand father and losing their grandma so young. However, if I had to choose I would still make the same choice I made when I was 8 years old and losing my ever loving f**k mind behind a couch in the basement.

I cited two of the studies on p.3. The marine dismissed them with the brilliant retort: "I'm sure that 'study' was not biased at all." I guess he only saw one of them.

Children of homosexual couples fare better than children of marines.
