the dark ages are also described as "the age of migrations". the huns pushed west, which pushed everyone west. it ended up with the fall of the roman empire and all that, but the goths, the visigoths, the vandals and all of them? they were refugees honestly, fleeing from war. the romans resisted the flood of women and children along with the fighting men, and the refugees with no where to go ended up sacking western civilization. this was a death toll around 8 million, which scaled up to mid-20th century was about 105 million people.
