We've got a giant copper statue sitting there in New York Harbor with a highly inconvenient poem etched into it. It used to symbolize (as well as literally state) some of our most core principals.

Now, nobody gives a shit. Or they actively denounce it, as the White House does currently.

also and probably more importantly, lenin didn't rebel against the united states or even kill any americans. sure his ideas are f**k but he is an important world figure. that particular statue was destined for the scrap heap in czechoslovakia when some guy felt that it was a work of art worth perserving. he mortgaged his house to buy it and ship it to the US. strangely it is held in trust by a "quirky, artistic" city called Fremont currently, until a buyer is found
