nab, that isn't his approach. his approach is to pay for a game months before it even launches. it could launch with .01% positive reviews and he would have bought it.
i don't know that i will ever play me:a, i may watch a lets play though, maybe
what is the point of preordering? a long time past you would want to preorder a game so you had a copy. are there only so many digital copies around? no, of course not. so they put all sorts of bonuses in the preorder that are only available with preorder. but why?
the only conceivable reason is so that you will pay for something before anyone has had a chance to review it. if it was worth it, the reviews would state that, and increase sales. preorders try to increase sales without any knowledge about the game itself.
i personally don't give a shit about DRM, or microtransactions. i don't play games with microtransactions, or, if i do, i never pay for them. ive bought absurd amounts of dlc for various games and i will pay full price for games that are worth it.
there's a game i love called factorio which has a demo. yeah, a demo. some games still have them. some games give you an actual preview before you buy it. in this case if you buy EA's 10 dollars a month service for ????? then you could also get 10 hrs of playtime before launch, so there's kind of a demo, one you have to pay to play said demo of the game... well, after the demo went so poorly and people ripped on it, i doubt EA will do that again. instead they'll continue to get people like you to pay for it
why does it matter to me? because i wanted the game to be good. i'd rther they pushed it back another 2 years and came out with something legendary then to release it now. if it is finanical failure it would cause them to reassess. and they do, look at ubisoft, they stopped pumping out assassin's creeds every year as a result of negative fan feedback. exploited what you're suggesting is that people shouldn't listen to or trust the reviews they should trust the truthiness that only comes from within that comes from pure ignorance of playing the game with no knowledge whatsoever about it
