Indeed, but our own founding fathers enslaved people, raped women, and jailed reporters. That doesn't make their contributions to history ignorable either.

No one is suggesting he was a saint. He was a significant world leader which almost invariable means he was at best a mixed bag.

Well Cuba's literacy rate skyrocketed under Castro. Healthcare, which was completely inaccessible to many Cubans under Batista, is now accessible for all (yes, I know it's not world class healthcare, but Cuba is a very poor country, in large part because of the embargo). So, I mean, there's that.
He also survived 600 assassination attempts which is just badass.
