Kurds have ISIS on the run

According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Kurds have already taken back from ISIS some 50 towns and villages. Meanwhile, Turkish officials say about 20,000 villagers, fearing getting trapped in the intensifying battles, are trying to cross into Turkey.
If the Kurds take Tal Abyad, as seems likely, they will cut off a key supply route into the ISIS "capital" in Syria, Raqqa. If you look at a map of the region, you can see why this is so significant -- Raqqa is the strongest of ISIS strongholds, meaning that if it weakens, ISIS will become considerably more vulnerable.

Huh, look what’s going on the Syria-Turkey border. Kurds fight ISIS. Yes, they fight those scary beardy dressed all-black militants. And they fight good.
Of course it’s noted that the US-led air force coalition helps a lot. But Kurds… even Kurds have success in the warfare against ISIS! Am I the one who read this news with eyebrows raised?

The kurds are mediocre too. They're okay for the region I guess. But then I and a few guys from the south Bronx could probably take over most Arab nations in a few days so that's not saying much.

kurds are mediocre because they don't have anything heavier than LMGs. if the US gave the kurds half the shit they gave the iraqi army (that ISIS now has) they'd have mopped up ISIS months ago.

actually, they're more than mediocre considering how long they've held off and pushed back ISIS with what little equipment they have.

To be fair,

They would have been overrun if not for the US Air Force.

nah they halted their advance prior to the air campaign. but they wouldn't have moved a meter out of erbil without them. but this is exactly my point about heavy weaponry. if they were equipped with some they would be so much more effective but we won't do it and dare suggest baghdad isn't the government of kurdistan.

The former mayor of Mosul was right. It wasn't his fault that 20,000 members of the Iraqi army decided to tuck tail and run in the face of a few hundred ISIS fighters in trucks.
