You can't distinguish between them. All of them need to be eradicated from this earth. Ideology is the single greatest weakness in mankind.

Without ideology...what would there be? What I'd prefer is a carefully constructed and managed system that uses the most beneficial parts of various ideologies. Which is in itself an ideology.

Like in the capitalism example...capitalism can be extremely beneficial when limited, dampened, and controlled. Where the wheels come off is when we get a pure, unrestricted version of it. What should have been a controlled fire inside a stove that heats your house becomes a wildfire that wipes out everything. Religion is at its best when its similarly limited.

Christianity became lot less problematic after we removed it from governance and the law. The challenge for Islam is to see if they can pull off a similar trick.

I think Islam handicaps itself extremely because the legal and governmental elements are so entrenched. And so it becomes a boat anchor on a billion people.

Ideologies are systems of belief. Which are stupid, because belief ought to be based upon facts, which are themselves derived from specific circumstances.

A capitalist ideology holds that free markets are best everywhere. Whereas a coherent and logical belief is that some ideas within capitalism make sense within specific contexts, and others do not... But even this shouldn't be thought of as always true. Sometimes the best idea just doesn't work, after all.

The point is, if you want to construe ideology to mean "the whole of a persons beliefs," then yes, it cannot be eradicated, in that people will continue to have beliefs. But if you interpret ideology correctly, which is a system (ie various parts working in tandem), then obviously ideology can be eradicated by insisting upon specific, case by case, context dependent solutions.
