yeah i really don't know why a few people in this thread *cough* think that taking students out of school is a punishment when that's exactly what they want. staying in school longer sucks. i hated being there five minutes longer than i had to. i'd do anything to avoid that.

It wont happen though.
A. Funding is disbursed "per head per hour", I heard this multiple times from administrators.
B. School is now a babysitter, if we let kids out for having good grades parents would be pissed.
A is obvious, one of the first rules of management control systems, you get what you pay for, make sure you are paying for what you actually want. So we just need to change the funding model.
I have no good solution for B.

attendance based funding has nothing to do with after school detention.

Wow, when I first just hit this thread, I clicked on the third page and made a response. I never went to the first page and read the OP.
Holy h*ll.
It's akin to just easing criminal laws simply because the criminals will break the laws anyways.
New Yorkers. Unbelievable.
And once again, my personal plan on how to fix public education warrants even more merit. There just simply isn't a better plan out there.
