My friend's sister was right there but left 10 mins before the bombs went off. Got contact with 2 friends but 2 yet to check in.

Be careful, there are images on the internet showing it up close. The article is accurate.

3 hours after the race was won. Not at the apex of when most people get there, but still a lot of people.

dude, CNN says it was an hour after the race was won. that means about the time of the cutoff for people to qualify to get in the race.

Yeah, seems the initial reporting was wrong. 1st runner ran after about 3 hour mark, so this is 1 hour after that which is probably a busy time.
