The debate has started again as to whether the US Constitution should be amended in order to change the presidential election process. Some promote
eliminating the Electoral College in favor of a direct popular vote for president while others believe the Electoral College should remain unchanged. Just as compromise solved the initial problems of the framers so it is that compromise can solve this problem. The solution is to change the electoral votes to electoral points and reward each candidate a percentage of points based on the percentage of popular votes received in each state.

This would eliminate the "winner take all" system thus allowing for all the votes to count. A voter is more apt to believe their vote counted when a percentage of popular votes are taken into account rather than the "all or nothing" system currently in existence. Further, this new system would integrate the desire for a popular vote for president with the need for the individual states to determine who actually gets elected.

As for political primaries the number of delegates awarded in each state should be determined by the percentage of votes won by each candidate.

For 2016 multiplying the percentage of votes each candidate received {in each state} times the number of electoral votes {in each state} results in the following: Clinton 256.985 and Trump 253.482.

I have voted in every election since I turned 18. My pick has won some and lost some. None of which had anything to do with my one vote. Waste of time for me. Until or unless it goes popular vote, one man/woman one vote, I no longer need to waste my time to vote.

the founders knew that direct democracy was vile, which is why the electoral college was created in the constitution. like chief justice marshall said, "Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos."

the constitution is not long; you should read it http://constitutionus.com/ article II, section 1, clause 2-4 deal with electoral college, along with amendment xii that modified it (so that we voted for pres and vice pres from one party)

Good God - I can't believe I'm about to have a debate about the Electoral College with someone who hasn't read the Constitution ("When was the electoral invented?"!! Seriously?!!) or the Federalist/Anti-Federalist Papers.

The electoral college is basically a mirror of Congress. You get 1 EC vote for every member of Congress you have.

If you want to know why you have 2 Senators and XX many Representatives . . . try 9th-grade US history.

Get use to it. The EC is not going away. We have a Republic vice a direct Democracy. You might want to take a remedial course in Civics 101.

p.s., I am also against term limits, up to and including for the President.

Yeah, it's too bad that you can't just scrap the Constitution and adopt parliamentarian democracy. Instead you're stuck with some terrible experiment that never worked, cooked up by traitors and war criminals.
