Robert E Lee never surrendered. Grant stole his sword and he was too much of a gentleman to ask for it back. In the War of Northern Aggression, the South simply told the North they won so that they would go the hell home.

Sigmund Freud defined four parts of a psyche; the id, the ego, the superego and the stratego. The Stratego being the highest form of morality and scientific thinking.

The French have one of the best military traditions in Europe. They're legit. It's a strange meme with little factual foundation that they're a weak military power. I think this took hold in the US during the rush to war in 2003 when France was acting rationally and the US was acting irrationally.
