If you had read this from the beginning you will note that the argument for the Corsair being the best was that it was supposedly "the best aerodynamically designed fighter ever"- which I then refuted, so try reading everything rather than picking stuff that suits your limited range.

But you will note also that when they installed a stall strip it allowed both wings to stall at an even pace- so the plane still had a tendency to stall- so either way your argument has been shot down in flames.

You obviously know nothing about airplanes. Making both wings stall together is an ideal stall characteristic!

EVERY PLANE HAS A "TENDENCY TO STALL" AT SOME AIRSPEED. It's not the stall that kills, it's the spin. Look man, I'm a pilot and mechanic. I've studied planes for many many years. Airplanes with "nasty stall characteristics" almost always drop a wing. If a plane drops both wings at the same time, that's great, and easy to recover from. Stall one that likes to flip on its back and you'd better have altitude or you're a smoking hole in the ground. During flight training they make you stall the plane coordinated (ball in the middle) and uncordinated (ball to either side) and the stalls coordinated are docile, straight ahead stalls. Stall it uncoordinated and you go into a spin.

A heavy airplane with a high wing loading is going to stall fairly easily, that's a given. But those airplanes also tend to be faster, look at a fighter jet. The F-16 stalls at some ungodly speed, but it can also GO an ungodly speed.

So no, my argument hasn't been shot down at all. In fact, your own link proved me right. As they always say, the best kind of pwnage is self pwnage. There is nothing anyone can do to make an airplane not stall. None of the fighters had STOL kits, so get them slowed down and they will stall. Stall straight ahead is wonderful, whip you on your back will wake up even the most tired pilot.

And once again you keep overlooking what was argued about the Corsair in the beginning because it has already shot down your argument. If the Corsair was such a superior plane with the best aerodynamics why did it take the USN so long to clear it for carrier operations? Why did they relegate it to the Marines instead? Is the Corsair's tendency to stall better than the Mustang for example? No. So once again, you already lost the argument yet now youre putting it on a tangent to somehow salvage your silly position on it.

The best ones were the ones that made it back at the end of the day . It probably varied day to day.
