we couldn't have won had we done that. russia would have gotten involved and europe was in no way ready to deal with tens of thousands of t-34s and is-7s flooding in. the only option would have been nuclear warfare and it would have left most of china and eastern europe uninhabitable.

The president gets much more info than just from the generals..

Generals have been overruled by the Prez many, many times in our history..

In hindsight I say yes we should have attacked China, their army was pretty much ill equipped to withstand a full scale American assault and we had the superiority in atomic weapons that even Russia would no way involve herself (Russia and China were antagonistic towards each other), we could have united the Koreas and put back Generalissimo Chang Kai back in power.

China and ME very different from each other. Russia would not have intervened to fight the US because it would lose, we had the monopoly on atomic weapons at that time so we had a golden hour to do whatever we wished- we could have won the Cold War decades before if we did. Chiang Kai Shek was a US ally, the whole of China would have been another Taiwan if we invaded.

Truman was right. Mac was wrong. And this man:
