Long story short, the FCC lied about a cyber attack because of the backlash they were getting over repealing Net Neutrality. It was a way to squelch the public's feedback and claim that the information they were getting was actually hacking/bots/ddos. People don't want Net Neutrality reversed but if the FCC can just summarily dismiss all of the feedback then they can "legally" claim that no one from the public is opposed.

Trump's admin picks are easily proving to be worst of the worst. Its probably a good thing that he has been leaving so many vacancies.

I dunno, I always prefer Cruz's example of Net Neutrality being like Obamacare for the internet lol. I remember having to explain how wrong that was to a lot of friends/family on Facebook when they started posting the memes from that back in 2014 or whatever it was. Average IQ in this country has got to be at least 15 points lower in the past 10 years and I wouldn't surprise me to see it 30 points lower in the next 2. We got anti vax shit going on full steam, nutritionist bullshit with healing with avocado slices in your arm pits for detoxing, climate change denial, reality star TV president. I just literally can't even.

the FCC is the reason the AT&T monopoly existed. the FTC on the other hand busts that shit

the mission of the FTC is "prevent business practices that are anticompetitive, deceptive, or unfair to consumers", while the mission of the FCC is "interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable". the FCC is about spectrum auctions and making money for the government. the FTC is about anti-trust lawsuits

the thing is the FTC is reactive and not proactive, so it would have to wait for a problem to exist before it acted. that the FCC would make shit up to expand their power and scope makes sense. they are a regulatory commission that is trying to expand its own power at the expense of others
