Interesting take on another possible reason why Comey released this today (beyond his stated reason).

yeah i know. i doubt it was that bad... but, if what comey said is true (and there is no reason to doubt any of it) then the next director too would have been wined and dined

I think it's underwhelming in terms of what this does. It just establishes that Trump is a lair, cannot be trusted, and may have tried to force Comey's hand and subsequently fired him. It doesn't provide any fire to the ongoing concern - re Russia. It just solidifies what everybody already knew.
I think this is more for Comey to get back at Trump.
