okay but that doesn't have anything to do with the fact that they'd still probably lose to ISIS.

True, but I think you're still making an asumption that there wouldn't have been chaos, or social upheavle in Iraq during the "Arab Spring" under Saddam's rule.
Look at Libya, and Syria. They were both ruled by despots like Saddam, and look at them now.

and if we're willing to topple libya and syria we'd absolutely bust a nut at the opportunity to knock over saddam's iraq.

I'm of the opinion that the Arab Spring almost certainly wouldn't have happened without the US knocking over two countries, purposefully economically harming many others, and starting a drone war all over the Middle East. At the very least it would have been significantly less powerful. Iraq was the most damaging by a long shot.

but the arab spring started in tunisia, far away from any of america's foreign policy.
