Funny.. Some of the same people who say they want to government to stop giving the poor and sick charity/social safety nets because they believe that charity should come from the private sector only now want those private charities taxed if those charities are connected to a religion.. Lots and lots of Jewish, Catholic and Protestant charities out there that do a lot of good..

To be fair,
Pos is right. Why should religions get such an exception? I know they do TONS of charity work, but charities aren't taxed anyway. They could get 501(c)3 status like anyone else for their charitable activities. The religious tax exemption only really keeps their non-charitable activities from being taxes. No offense, but I don't think the state should tacitly endorse such things by giving them tax breaks. Charity, fine, obviously don't tax that activity. But it's bullshit they can skip out on liquor taxes because its going to be used as "the blood of Christ" or skip on property taxes because they spend 2 hours on Sunday talking to people about a Jewish philosopher.
