Yep, and in the center of all this is a Two-Party System. I'd rather have a One-Party System. At least if there is only one party, it's equivalent to having infinite parties. You can have a whole range of opinions and everyone will claim that it's within party line.
Sigmund Freud defined four parts of a psyche; the id, the ego, the superego and the stratego. The Stratego being the highest form of morality and scientific thinking.
If guns are not outlawed, the in-laws will have guns.

A system of direct democracy would be far better.
