Barbaric. Healthcare is a government service that is unconditional and ought to be guaranteed. Letting people shop around for it is a stupid and harmful endeavour. One of the main points of government should be emergency services and long term healthcare.

The Republican members of our U.S. Congress could make available only inferior medical insurance policies at no greater, (but perhaps lesser) costs; they could provide tax relief for our nation’s wealthy income earners and/or shift greater proportions of our tax burdens upon USA’s remaining taxpayers, and/or reduce tax revenues and increase our federal debts, and/or phase out expanded Medicaid coverage and/or reducing Medicaid coverage for millions of poor and disabled people.

It would be politically foolish for Republicans to effectively repeal the affordable Care Act but They're capable of modifying existing regulations to consequentially be of less benefit and greater harm to our nation.
I doubt that Republicans alone would modify healthcare regulations to better shield USA citizens from increased costs due to pre-existing medical conditions or when individual’s financial, or geographical, or employment circumstances interrupt or otherwise cause modification of individuals’ insurance or their insurance providers policies.

My hope is there will continue to be at least 51 among the senators willing to defend the concept of a public’s health being necessary for their nation’s general wellbeing. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell’s mentioning politically bipartisan improvement of our Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is slightly encouraging.

“Republicans have proposed the federal and state governments subsidize the cost of care for people in the individual market with catastrophic illnesses, Ryan said. He believes that will make it easier to insure people in those high-risk pools at a more affordable price”.

Paul Ryan’s advocating federal insuring catastrophic medical costs of individuals. That’s a concept that both sides of the political ailse could agree upon.
I’m a proponent of federal fiscal responsibility for catastrophic medical condition regardless if patients were or were not previously insured. Hospitals must be reimbursed for those extraordinary expenditures.

That's basically what's done at the county level. Pre ACA the county and the state picked up the tab for all of those unpaid ER visits.

Paul advocating for that now is just more of the same. Premiums and deductibles would still go up under all of their scenarios.

Every working person already pays into a HC plan they probably can't access now, but need now. And the continue to scratch their heads and wondering why its a train wreck. Apparently they are that stupid, and greedy. My opinion =

The party was broken into competing camps and with the populist wing in charge of the White House 1, they often disagree with him and don't like what he is doing but 2, they feel they must not ruffle feathers in the white house. So we have a gridlocked government with Republicans in charge nominally in all parts of government.

If this was a parlimentary system they'd be getting everything they wanted but since the Donald is not a real Republican and he also constantly is creating diversions to the goals of the party nothing is getting done
