It should be noted that phosphide has hated both new Star Wars films, and will hate all future Star Wars films.

I liked it but yeah...I have a friend that prematurely came from the movie and it just didn't have the same effect on me. Honestly it wasn't that dark and Whitaker's performance really was forgettable. It was a wasted moment. You understand why he's there but I feel like so much more could've been done to develop the characters more.
Last ten minutes were cool but we've all seen it before.
Maybe this doesn't happen for some of you but when I'm watching a really good movie and I'm totally into it....the movie will give me "chills." Arrival did that for me...even though the underlying message a is a bit cliche. This movie was just more of the same.
