There is already millions of starving N. Koreans. Yet best guess is there's only about 20,000 in China. China's a dictatorship, they don't have to answer to anyone. Not humanitarians, not lawyers, no one.. I'm not saying they'll shoot them in mass. They won't.. But I doubt millions would be allowed to cross over the border. The Chinese would stop them, somehow..

I think South Korea would have a much bigger problem if NK collapses because that's where the majority would head. If they head South the S. Korean and American Soldiers sure as hell wouldn't/couldn't stop them.

I think the best thing all of the countries in the region(including China), and the US could do would be RUSH food and supplies into the North which might keep most of them from leaving.

i'm pretty sure they would set something up to exploit the cheap labor,

China already has plenty of cheap labor.

So they can talk, but that will be about it.. Just talk.

don't confuse their support for liking the north. they don't necessarily like a unified korea but they REALLY don't want the north to collapse and have to deal with millions and millions of refugees flooding in to manchuria,

only reason they'd run north is because there was fighting down south.

and most of their goods come from china and china is the only good nation they're told about and china is where their food comes from and china doesn't have a one mile deep minefield on their border etc etc etc.

not sure why the statement "collapse of north korean state leads to refugee crisis in manchuria" has been such a controversial opinion for this board to accept.

I think probably most koreans do want reunification

there is no reason to suppose there will be a great immigration crisis, probably north koreans will be far better off than they are now and after the situation normalizes, well they will be a normal, organic country for the first time in post war era

the current situation is artificial, a remnant of WWII, which is why it is falling to pieces as the post war world order degrades

yeah if only humans could hold off from eating for a few years while north korea "normalizes". and what do you mean they don't want reunification? both countries have policies and philosophies about how to reunify.
