meaning of life

meaning of life

http://www.scaruffi.com/nature/biology.html

This is really cool and provides a lot of food for thought. I didn't want to post an excerpt here because I only want to really discuss it with people that are willing to read the entire thing and it's kind of long and probably tedious unless you like this sort of thing. (Posting excepts to comment upon is cool, tho)

So if you will....

Didn't read it all but will later. Big issue when the author says paragraph one that life rewrites the laws of physics and life seemingly violates the second law of thermodynamics. Its just not true.

The path to understanding the meaning of life is to have no life.
Sigmund Freud defined four parts of a psyche; the id, the ego, the superego and the stratego. The Stratego being the highest form of morality and scientific thinking.

If guns are not outlawed, the in-laws will have guns.

I've never been so sure that somebody wrote the entirety of their own Wikipedia entry.

These users thanked the author Darkhorse for the post:

The phenomena we know as "life" is entirely a chemical reaction that is completely the effect of the action of the laws of physics on matter as they act to degrade energy differentials and achieve equilibrium.

Explain how that is incorrect, please.

Read the first part, and it's hogwash, so not reading the rest.

Most things in this universe, if left alone, simply decay and disintegrate. Biological systems, instead, appear from nowhere, then organize themselves, then even grow!

False. Subatomic particles formed themselves into atoms (protons and electrons, among others). These atoms formed molecules, namely, hydrogen. Hydrogen clumped together to form starts. Stars, through their natural progression of life, went on to form more complex molecules and elements. Those elements formed more stars, and planets. These stars and planets formed solar systems. Solar systems formed galaxies. Galaxies formed galactic clusters. Then, back on the planets (at least one of them), other molecules formed complex structures like water, methane, etc. Those molecules formed organic compounds. Organic compounds formed life.

None of this is "decay" or "disintegration".
