ender's shadow was cool. ender's game was cool. a few of the overly philosophical ones in that series were alright.

i really dislike that sci-fi has turned in to an attempt to write a new atlas shrugged. not all of it of course but way too much of it.

Honestly, there have only been half a dozen that I rate as legitimately good. He's a bit of a one hit wonder, IMO.

well Vox Day has killed the hugos now basically. he said in response to the No Award push, "If No Award takes a fiction category, you will likely never see another award given in that category again. The sword cuts both ways, Lois. We are prepared for all eventualities."

basically he's threatened to buy up all the votes to destroy awards unless they are given to who he wants them to be given to.

they need to have major revisions to the process or they need to be done away with

i think since none of these people (or a very small percent) are actually going to go to worldcon, at worldcon they should work it all out this year. if anyone is actually going. presenters are pulling out, people who were nominated are dropping out... a mess

http://difficultrun.nathanielgivens.com ... -analysis/

interesting analysis here

the autor thinks that the sad puppies have a point, but the rabid puppies (vox day and his ilk) are obnoxious. i can agree to that.

80% of science fiction writers are male. in recent years, under half of hugos went to men. that's unexpected. 20% should go to women, 80% men, all things being equal.

but it all gets muddied up by the Rabid Puppies who ended up beating out the Sad Puppies for their slate. the sad puppies slate was moderate, actually, included women writers, communists, socialists, as well as the expected conservative and libertarian male writers. the rabid puppies on the other hand just voted up those who are in Vox Day's publishing house

so it's unfortunate that the rabid puppies were able to control this, and it then destroyed what the sad puppies were trying to achieve, and really f**k up the hugos

Pretty good write up: http://www.wired.com/2015/08/won-science-fictions-hugo-awards-matters/?mbid=nl_82415

Yeah...RIP Hugo Awards. Bullshit stacked on top of bullshit with SJW's sandwiched in between like plywood lamination...

They f**k mention gamer gate and talk about it with the f**k media version again ergo the whole article is shit. But this quote from vox day is awesome

“I don’t consider all black people to be half-savages. I mean, some people are. Here in Europe, for example, we have actual proper Africans, not African-Americans. This leads to problems, like people shitting on top of the closed toilets. They don’t know how to use indoor plumbing, okay? This is not civilized behavior.”

Well. At least we've settled your gamer gate position. :))

Vox Day is an idiot, clearly. But...entertaining.
