Hardest Working Man in America

Hardest Working Man in America

Postby Southern Dad » Tue Feb 03, 2015 4:48 am

This is an example of a person who is a great American. More than a decade ago, when his 1988 Honda Accord broke down, James Robertson began walking to the bus line to get to and from his job. He walks about 21 miles a day to work at a $10.55 per hour job. At 56 years old, he walks in all weather. He never complained, he didn't beg. He didn't quit and go on welfare. When his story became known, people came together to help him. The government didn't bail him out. He won't be walking much longer, unbeknownst to him 19-year-old Evan Leedy started a Gofundme expecting to get about $5k to help Robertson with taxi fares through the winter. This is motivation that few Americans still have. I gave.

“He’s said, “I can’t imagine people who don’t work. I can’t imagine not doing that,’” Pollock said. “Nothing gets him down. “If it’s rainy, if it’s cold, he just always says, ‘Hi Mr. Blake.’”

“I get to sit in the car and have that inspiration right next to me,” he said of Robertson, who began walking to work a decade ago when his then-car broke down.

Yes, he won't be walking to work soon. The best part? Not a bit came from the government seizing it from those that earn it.

So do you think the government should be providing cars for people?

This guy is an example of someone who had the willpower to do what it took. He didn't beg for help. He didn't quit his job. I've got nothing but admiration for him.

When a sentence has a question mark at the end it is an interrogatory. I asked that question because of your statement.

Was there no job closer? 21 miles at 15min/mi would take 5 hours to complete. So he spends 10 hours walking a day for work?
Sigmund Freud defined four parts of a psyche; the id, the ego, the superego and the stratego. The Stratego being the highest form of morality and scientific thinking.

He could have bought a second-hand bicycle for $100.
