Fighting wars is waaaay cheaper than taking care of the servicemen. Gotta be born in mind that retirements, benefits, pensions etc make up more than a quarter of the entire defense budget. Costs more to keep the bennies flowing than it does to maintain the entire Air Force or Navy.
Its no small thing. Not excusing the failings, just pointing out the amazing scale of the problem.

Continual war in pursuit of our policy objectives simply isn't sustainable. The system will break and it looks like the promises we made our vets are the part they are going to let go down the tubes.
That is a terrible way to be.

Point being, our vets are giving up on themselves, all of us and on everything. Life itself, no longer has any value to them.
Wonder about the ones that don't see taking their own lives as a way out, and are just as cynical and fed up as Daniel.
They're out there.
The army won't resolve this. They'll start up operation 'whatever' and then that shiny new pony will die from fraud, abuse and uselessness, then we'll be into the next round.
And every round gets worse.

I can attest to this. I think it's because returning vets realize this country isn't exactly good anymore. Those patriotic ideals of doing what's right, standing up for the helpless, and respecting each other are just bullshit when they're spouted by the government and it's corporate interests.
