His life is meaningless the way society is now. I don't see why you think that is a good argument against what the principles I am trying to express here.

Far less people will give up and commit suicide if they lived in an equitable society rather than in an inequitable society that thinks welfare makes up for the resources that are being stolen from human society by a very tiny segment of the population.

If he lived in my society he never would have had anything to worry about and he could work doing whatever it is he likes to do, while keeping the full product of his labor. Instead he lives in yours, where there are no jobs, but a job is needed to eat, and he has to depend on handout from the very thieves that stole his livelihood. I'd kill myself too.

Suicide, mass murders, crime etc. None of that happens for no reason. Those actions are actually rational given the context in which they were conceived, but because society believes in a pack of myths these actions seem irrational to them and they can't understand why these horrible things keep happening.

It's really very simple to understand once you turn your back on the phantasms society uses to justify it's current inimical mode of production and apply a proper analysis of human society.

BTW Welfare doesn't come anywhere near meeting an individuals needs. They need the full product of their own labor.

In capitalism, either work or welfare you aren't going to have your needs fulfilled. If you want your economic needs to be fulfilled you will have to give up your social needs. If you want your social needs fulfilled you will have to give up on your economic needs.

That is why our society is damaged. It's running on half rations as if that were the norm, just to maintain record profits in the corporate sector.

Notice these profits are higher than ever despite the economic catastrophe. There's no explanation for this state of affairs other than what I am pointing out.

how is spending 23% of your time working detrimental to anything. and i don't know what you're talking about, half rations. the idea is not compatible with reality.

not to say they are doing great but the number of people in extreme poverty has been halved since 1990, and almost all of it is because of economic growth not because of people being nicer to one another and giving away food or whatever bizarreness you claim would happen, and you would see all that progress destroyed. if the 20th century taught us anything it's that communism will never work it only succeeds in creating the greatest amount of misery the world has ever seen. and before you say "oh but it wasn't how it would have been in a perfect world!!", exactly, it's not a perfect world, and never will be. resources are finite, end of fairy tale

The fact that resources are finite should indicate to you that a better distribution philosophy is preferable. The one we have is clearly not working out, because it distributes unevenly.

We are experiencing maldistribution, consequently wasting the shit out of our valuable resources and destroying the planet in the process trying to prop up an economic system that has collapsed.

Capitalism has already collapsed and the only reason we aren't a lot worse off is because the wealth of the people is being given to private concerns via massive infusions of "stimulus" and it's propping the whole mess up a little longer. However instead of trying to repair the damage to their concern these companies are instead stupidly lavishing these funds on themselves with bonuses and perks. It's unconscionable. Meanwhile manufacturing is gone and a college degree is basically just signing up for a lifetime of indentured servitude while you work at a coffee shop. We hit the top in 60s and 70s and have declined since and will continue to decline as economic conditions cause the US to move from the core to the periphery of the world-system. We simply are not responding in an adequate way to the changes that are occurring.

That response was a lot BS. it wasn't even a directed at any of the points I made.

Welfare is used to keep the peasents just far enough from the edge of desperation so they won't revolt.
