Bottom line is it's not a moral issue. This segment of the population exists in all known cultures and I don't know of any valid justification to impose discriminatory policies regarding the phenomena in modern society.
If we are to use technology to truly subjugate the natural world and bend it to our will we will have to get beyond ancient culturally derived superstitions that involve it's idiosyncrasies.

I don't see the point of projecting human feelings onto animals as there is no reason to believe they have them.

What is the cause of my dog's penchant for humping inanimate objects. Its not like the pillow on the sofa represents any natural shape or smell of an animal.
