Kinda surprised no one has posted about this trial yet. Not sure if this really fits in Society or Front Page but anyways...

But essentially the night he died, she told people she wasn't even there originally. Then, come to find out, she left evidence behind showing she was there. Then the story changed to "masked attackers" came and killed him but she managed to get away. But then they found a camera with a memory card in it that someone washed and it showed her murdering him, according to the state. Then the story changed to "I killed him in self defense."

This pretty much sounds exactly like the Casey Anthony trial in that this girl has told so many lies, she can't even keep shit straight herself. The night she killed her boyfriend, she drove and met some other dude to have sex with. Absolutely nothing sounds right with this story. I mean, if the guy attacked you and you killed him in self defense, why did you try to hide evidence? Why didn't you call police to say he had attacked you and you fought back in self defense? Where did the knife come from? Why did you stab him 8-9 times in the back? Why did you slit him from ear to ear with a cut so deep that it nearly decapitated him? And after it all, she says she still loves him!

None of these things sound like self defense.

After the Casey Anthony trial, I have little faith in our justice system. I can totally see this girl walking after mimicking Anthony's tactics of lying out of her ass. Guess we'll see what happens.

It seems that is you can generate enough confusion the truth gets lost in the proceedings and it creates a pretty good chance of getting away with murder.

That's why people like this try it. It's ironic that in the article Jody asks people to consider why she would do somthing like that.

Sorry uber, but the members of the jury were the ones in the courtroom for the entirety of the trial. They saw the evidence and decided not to convict. I don't know where you get the idea that you're a better judge of how well the evidence was presented than the jurors who actually saw everything at the trial.

...and I don't know what you're going on about with it being "stupid" that the defense doesn't have to prove their claims. Of course they don't. They don't have to prove ANYTHING. It's called presumption of innocence. Innocent until proven guilty. If you don't like it, well that's a shame, but don't blame the justice system for operating exactly as it is supposed to operate.

And yes, I've never hid my discontent with our justice system. Its a shitty system that panders to the guilty to allow them to walk free more often than not.

Did you actually watch every minute of the trial, or just the news coverage? I mean you spent hours and hours and hours watching the whole thing day after day? Don't you have a job?

Either way, 12 jurors watched it as well, and they disagreed. They felt there was not proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Well, I won't put words in your mouth ueber, but most of the people who have the kind of reaction you had also already "knew" she was guilty before the trial.

This is the justice system working very well. Cause, it would be easy enough for the jury to just to convict her since everyone believed she did it and also she probably did it. In fact, I'm pretty sure she did it. But the jurors didn't convict because even though they most likely were pretty sure she did it too, it wasn't proven to them beyond a reasonable doubt, and they understood and respected the presumption of innocence. Smart jury.

You think our justice system is shitty (and it is in some ways) but god damn I'd be terrified if you got your way and the burden of proof was on the defense to show innocence.

It's the actual result that counts when you are deciding the value of of a course of action, not how well you followed the established procedure. And the actual result of the Casey Anthony trial was a killer walking away free. She killed that little girl, probably accidentally, and walked there's not a doubt in my mind.

That is not the system working well. That is the system sucking. Get better prosecutors and that problem is solved. I totally blame that on the incompetence of the prosecution. It should have been an open and shut case. I don't think they were ready for the audacity of the defense's case and got caught off guard.
