My life is drastically better with drugs and alcohol than it is without.

The idea that drugs make you stupid only applies to stupid people. I am capable of pretty profound insight when I'm high as shit, and many of these insights have informed my sober opinions on things. Like everything else in life, the trick is moderation...

The way I see it, there is a reason why so many early cultures used drugs ceremoniously: because they have the capacity to inform just as much as they have the capacity to destroy.

True. But that's why I got married.

On another note, my oldest friend has always suffered from severe depression. He has battled with it his whole life... About five years ago, he made a trip to Peru, where he spent a week drinking ayuhuasca tea. He came back a completely different person - he still suffers from depression, but now he is able to cope with it. He moved out of his parents, went to school, got an amazing tech job making close to six figures, got jacked at the gym, got a cute Chinese biochemist girlfriend. To this day, he says the tea saved his life. So yeah. Shit works.

He has gone back one more time since then, and plans on going back again in another couple years. Everytime he goes he seems to get a little bit better. It is really something amazing to see, considering how poorly he fared with Western medicine.
