I got to play a bit on PC.

Had severe issues playing in Full Screen mode - I had to play in Full Screen Windowed else the client would crash every time. I looked online and there were hundreds (if not thousands) of others having the same issue. Not acceptable seeing as the client should have been stable by this point as this wasn't a "beta" at all - it was a demo.

Actual gameplay was stable. I never once crashed out of the client once the game was going.

I enjoyed playing at first and then once the novelty wore off (which happened within a few hours), I decided there's no way I'll be getting this game unless they make major changes.

Battlefront 2 was a great game and this one is pretty much nothing like it at all. They took out all of the best parts and are not including them which is a real shame. Honestly, it felt like I was playing BF3 instead of a Battlefront game. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing overall I guess but why make something almost exactly the same as other games out there? I liked the token system in the sense that you don't have the same people in the same vehicle the whole map unless no one else is going after them. The issue I had was not being able to see the tokens on the map. That should be visible to everyone so you don't have to guess where spawns are.

I'm not sure how I feel about no classes. No heavy, no recon, no soldier - I know DICE said that the trait system would make these differences but since none of this was in the demo, we have only their word to take on it. I don't know how exactly that is going to play out but it could work out fine if they do it right.

I tried air combat a few times on Rebel Assault and the vehicle control with mouse and keyboard was just plain dumb. It was a bit easier with a controller but there's no reason I should have to use a controller AND mouse and keyboard to play a game. Not only that but I can't really use a controller all the time against PC users (accuracy) so you have to sit and switch back and forth. IMHO the control was unacceptable but I doubt it changes at all because there's no way DICE is changing it a month before release. I don't think it even stated anything about the special ways of avoidance while in a flying vehicle either (f1-f3). After about 30 minutes of trying air combat, I gave up on it all together. Most of the time, I died about 2 seconds after getting into them. Never had that problem on Battlefront 2 at all so I dunno.

Those saying Rebel Assault isn't balanced are dumb. It was balanced fine, other than some minor spawn point issues. The problem was people being new to the game and having no clue what was going on. I wanted to see how dumb people were so I sat and watched people on my team (rebels) and they constantly ran past the inactive activation points to just play Rambo. Also, pretty much no one would ever defend anything. So even if they did activate something, it was merely a point at which to gain some points for completing an objective, then they would immediately run off, leaving it completely undefended.

Also, if you saved your orbital strikes for when the walkers were exposed and you had a few Ywings to assault, you could take down an entire AT-AT in a single phase. I was playing on a map where people figured this out and Rebels started winning consistently each time. AT-STs were way too easy to kill. Normal blaster fire would take them down quickly. DICE said that they were going to balance it but it was pretty dumb to get into an AT-ST and watch yourself die in about 5 seconds when people actually shot at you. On the plus side, people were often dumb and I could just walk over them as they ran and rack up a shitload of kills. But the teams that had good players would have the AT-STs down in about 10 seconds if you didn't hide or stay extremely far back and play AT-ST sniper.

All in all, I wasn't too impressed with the game. It is waaaaay too vanilla. Too many of the best parts of Battlefront 2 are missing and the game feels like it has been dumbed down too much. Then I saw that there is going to be day 1 DLC and that pretty much turned me off completely. What that tells me is that the game was purposefully left incomplete and put behind a paywall after paying $60 for a "complete" game. I doubt I buy this game due to that one thing. Otherwise, I might have. It would be like buying Madden and only getting 8 teams and having to pay another $50 to get 8 more teams down the road. When I buy a game, I want a complete game. DLC should come months or more down the road after. Day 1 DLC tells me that they don't give a shit about this game and only want profit. I don't play games like that because they go downhill fast and typically have no bug fix/balance support and the company only focuses on DLC so as to make more money.

I was really looking forward to this one when I first saw it. I have zero plans to buy it now.

Eh...I think that if the win rate for Rebs is 10%, for whatever reason, its unbalanced. Its balanced when they win around 50% of the time, for whatever reason. Sure, if you get a group that knows what they're doing, they can win it every time...but its actually random, and your group is probably going to be composed of at least half idiots. Thing is, the same proportion of idiots are then going to be found on the Imperial side...but they win anyways.

Plus...I think a lot of people on the Rebel side were just assuming they couldn't win, and so were just basically having target practice until they could play Empire again and have fun with the vehicles and such.

I would tend to agree. As an outsider, it's like a car wreck, you fear to look yet cannot turn away.

Yes, I actually read posts on a topic I had absolutely no interest in. I was merely looking for quality insults.

7 pages on the finer points of a half-baked Hoth mission available to play for like three days. Well done gents. I raise you one Jar-Jar.
