A triple-A game will make half a billion dollars and we still have jocks treating it like something unimportant. Sigh.

See, I'm ok with games that are considered casual, I don't hardcore play, maybe a couple of hours during the week, and maybe a few hours on the weekend.

I loved the previous Battlefront games and wished they would have included space battles, but it is what it is. I really wish they would remove the sniper rifle from it. I hated that the most.

I actually really liked that rifle. It was only a one shot at the head, but 90% otherwise and it automatically switched back to blaster to finish off that remaining 10%.

If I were playing with a controller though, it would have been pretty much unusable, so maybe you had a different experience. Why they felt the need for a projectile gun in SW...escapes me. Also no sure why it has to look like a prop from a spaghetti western.

Actually...the other weapons being so inaccurate actually gave it a Star Wars feel. Playing as storm trooper throwing 6 shots at something without hitting it...very authentic.

I would tend to agree. As an outsider, it's like a car wreck, you fear to look yet cannot turn away.

Yes, I actually read posts on a topic I had absolutely no interest in. I was merely looking for quality insults.

The guy literally just tried to dispute my argument by pointing out that everything I said has already come to pass, while refusing to provide any rationale for why he thinks these trends won't continue. You see this kind of oblivious behaviour all the time from hardcore gamers.

"hardcore gamer"

lol

Mass Effect 3, Dead Space 3, Gran Turismo, all of the new Mad Max games, Ryse, all of these titles have microtransactions, DLC, etc. Shit, go talk to the head of Avalanche Studio and see what he thinks the future is.

half of those games are old.

so over this five year span these are the AAA titles that have microtransactions? wow what a trend.

exploited wrote:But don't worry, Comrade, I'm sure there companies will be hurt terribly by all this gamer backlash (profits at record highs) and reverse these trends.

i already said companies don't reverse on these trends. i also said we've been dealing with it for years from pretty much the same companies. it's not the future of gaming because there is no future of gaming. it's a chaotic and divergent market with many facets.

You're forgetting Destiny, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, any new Borderlands game, Evolve, the COD series, the Batman series, etc. All with existing or planned microtransactions and DLC and preordering.

Then you have Microsoft opening up the XBox one and PC to play together. Numerous cross-platform games played by millions, irrespective of Comrades preferences. Steam busting into the living room.

I mean you can stick you head in the ground all you want but you're gonna have to dig deeper and deeper as time passes. I agree that it isn't desirable, but sorry dear, that isn't gonna change the facts. Every industry that has adopted microtransactions sees it quickly dominating. Cellphones introduced it and within three years, 70% of profits were from the F2P model. PC gamers got it introduced, and we already we're seeing it move into massive franchises.

you're telling me activision, ubisoft, microsoft, and gearbox are going to have DLC for their flagship franchises?

what an eye opener.

you're really, honestly, going to confuse cross-platform multiplayer with streaming and then try and be smug? what is this, amateur hour?

DLC and microtransactions have been around with the big studios for a while. no one is surprised by it, everyone expects it. but even with those studios not every game has them, or has them in an exploitative manner. and even then, gaming has never had so many options to avoid AAA garbage. we're truly in a golden era. it's a shame you can't see it.
