I guess I'm looking for engineering ideas for the system more than anything. Anyone ever built anything like this?

What is your current set up? Is your problem just getting the water with the right composition? Or do you need an actual way of watering the plants?
Because one is an engineering solution, the other is a chemistry hw problem.

How much water do they take per week? I think the easiest solution might just be to buy water by the gallon at the store. Or, get 5-gallon jugs and go to those water/ice stations that seem to be popular now. I think it's 5-gal for $1. But, I don't know what filtration system they use, so you should check.
