I've never bought a straight Linux device, so I wouldn't know.
However, if Android can use it to make the premier cellphone OS, I have faith that one day Linux devices will work as well or better than other options.
Just needs some leadership. The underlying soundness of Linux is well-established. Give it polish and ease of use and it'll take off.
