Yeah you could probably get away with that, but six months is acceptable to me. Of course, in my mind, I'd love to see a social services net so effective that you could get away with banning abortion entirely. If health care were free, if we had a guaranteed minimum income, if public schools were fixed, if adoption became viable and if there was a serious, nationwide commitment to sex education, there would be no acceptable reason for a woman to get an abortion, other than the obvious suspects (rape, incest).

The only reason I support abortion rights are the logistics of pregnancy and childbirth. Beyond that, I could give two shits about a woman's "right" to kill the product of her own actions.

abortion is currently one of the better systems we have in place for population control. we should never ban it, regardless of how effective our social services are.
