Why Do We Revoke the Gun Rights of Violent Criminals?

Why do we have laws that revoke the gun rights for violent criminals? If banning guns is ineffective because criminals will find their way to guns, then why is there a part of the law that is doing that specific ineffective thing?

What part of SHALL NOT INFRINGE do they not understand? It's written differently than the other Amendments for a reason people.

I don't see anything in the Second Amendment permitting this. Seems like an abridgment of our freedoms.

Philly does touch on a good point. If guns were meant to protect you from a tyrannical government, why give the government a means to take the guns away from you?

What if you didn't obey the government's pig grooming law and was deemed a criminal because you didn't properly groom your pigs. Then your gun is taken away, and they oppress you and tax your pigs, and you have no way of defending yourself.

Exactly. The point of guns is to provide a check against government overreach. If we give the government a process to take away guns, they just do that first, then commence with the overreach.
